Award for Best Plastic Surgery
Each year the American Association of Plastic Surgery, the oldest
and most prestigious plastic surgical academic society, gives an award
for the best published scientific paper form the previous year. Our
paper "A 10-Year Retrospective review of 758 DIEP Flaps for Breast
Reconstruction" published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
April 4th, 2004, was selected from over 1000 published papers. This
paper is a review of the the largest series of DIEP flaps for breast
reconstruction in the world. The award was given to Dr. Allen in May,
2005 in a ceremony in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The paper was presented at the meeting by Paul Gill, M.D., the
LSU Surgery Resident who did the chart review of Dr. Allen’s
10 year experience with DIEP breast reconstruction.
